This is a historical campaign record.Super Typhoon Mawar struck Guam and later entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility as Betty. This refreshed page distinguishes the storm’s confirmed path from forecasts published while it was active.

The storm

A powerful typhoon across the western Pacific

Typhoon Mawar brought destructive winds and heavy rain to Guam on May 24, 2023, causing widespread power outages and substantial damage. After intensifying over the Philippine Sea, the storm entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on May 27 and was given the local name Betty.

Betty remained offshore and moved north of the Philippines while weakening. Even without a direct Philippine landfall, authorities monitored threats including rough seas, strong winds and enhanced rainfall, especially across northern areas.
